Killer Mike

Bitter Southerner is an online magazine I used to shoot for when I lived in Atlanta. When we were hanging with Killer Mike we asked if he could freestyle something for Bitter Southerner on video. He ripped something out for us in like, I dunno… 45 seconds…

Later I got the ridiculous idea that I should make a backing track for the video since he just freestyled it with no beat. Luckily I was living in the attic of a friend’s recording studio at the time… So I went downstairs, wrote a quick tune, and tracked the individual instruments in my voice memos.

After the piece came out I got a forwarded email from the editor at Bitter Southerner. It was from Killer Mike saying, “Tell Troy I like his white boy beats”.
